I wanted to share excerpts from a press release with you for a concert happening tomorrow night, June 2nd that I'd like to attend but can't:

British clarinetist Brenden Guy presents “An Evening of English Music” on Thursday, June 2 at St. John’s Church, San Francisco. An enthusiastic champion of English music, Mr. Guy’s program juxtaposes well-known works such as Gerald Finzi’s Five Bagatelles with seldom heard works from well-known composers such as Britten and Holst.  In addition, Mr. Guy introduces audiences to composers Herbert Howells and Arnold Cooke whose works are rarely performed outside the UK. Guy, a native of England, has performed throughout Great Britain, Europe and the United States. During his travels, he has performed at such prestigious venues as the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall and Carnegie Hall under such esteemed conductors as Sir Simon Rattle, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Marin Alsop and Yan Pascal Tortelier.

Soprano Indre Viskontas joins Guy in Arnold Cooke’s Three Songs of Innocence for soprano, clarinet and piano. Equally at home in contemporary and classical opera, Ms. Viskontas has received accolades for her "bell-like timbre" and "winsome stage presence" and performs regularly in the Bay Area with groups such as Vocallective of which she is a founding member. Joining them is San Francisco Conservatory of Music staff accompanist and pianist of Nonsemble 6, Ian Scarfe. San Francisco based Valinor Winds, a quintet formed at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, will perform Holst’s Quintet in Ab Major.

The concert takes place Thursday, June 2 at 7:30pm at The Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist in San Francisco (110 Julian Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94103). The program is free to the public with a suggested donation at the door of $10-$20.
